Not dead, though I think everyone would like it to progress more rapidly.

That's quite a way to introduce one's self to a development list -
twice, and in HTML no less...
Your assistance will be welcome - please do discuss the bugs you'd like
to fix & submit patches, and discuss them on the list.
Samuele has been working on 2.3 compatibility, which includes some
significant architectural and design issues.
