just a note: in terms of CPython 2.2 features if one considers what was
in a0, what is on the head plus new-style classes and goes through
http://www.python.org/doc/2.2.3/whatsnew/
we are in good shape.
It's minor things, polishing and bug fixing and jython specific
features that remain.
But CPython is about to get to 2.4? yes we will need
and be open to new developers.
OTOH the features addded in 2.3 and 2.4 are much more self-contained and
granular and not everything is equally important. They are far more
amenable to divide and conquer and to be attacked by relatively small
contributions.
In the future the major tasks will be improve java integration and
jython specific aspects. And simplify and polish the codebase,
which can also help facilitating contributions.
