I have only expressed a view on one fundamental premise - that all values are
held internally as SI units - but I may be wrong in this view.

Yes it certainly does - but I note that Boosters have been seeking a 'perfect'
solution to the 'units and dimensions (and indeed constants)' needs for some
years now. Previously they have been thwarted by compiler deficiencies, for a
useful _library_ solution must work with most of the C++ compilers. Compilers
have improved which is why the topics have been re-opened recently.
Your code provides another interesting view of how to do it and I leave it to
others to comment further on it.
