I see, so prefork is used if another mpm is not specified.  I guess
Gentoo builds mpm-prefork even if USE="-mpm-prefork" is specified
(assuming another mpm is not specified).

I use mod_perl and I can't use a threaded perl.  Does that mean I
can't use a threaded apache2?
