Komodo 4.0 Alpha 4 ready for testing
Hello Everyone,
Komodo 4.0 alpha 5 is now available for download. This is
the fourth pre-release build on the road to Komodo 4.0. We plan to have
at least a couple more alpha/beta releases before going final.
The new bits are here:
http://downloads.activestate.com/Komodo/
Note that this build is of alpha quality and hence not recommended for
full daily use. We know that there are some rough edges in there but
wanted to get it out sooner to get feedback.
New in Komodo 4.0 Alpha 5 (this release):
- Updated Mozilla code base to deal with performance issues that cropped
up for some users in Alpha 4.
- Preliminary work on "Add file to project". This is currently only
available via the context menu in the projects tab.
New in Komodo 4.0 Alpha 4:
- HTTP Inspector. The inspector has a new rules feature that allows you
to define what HTTP requests you would like to stop and modify. It also
has a rule for defining delays in requests, which can be useful to
simulate delays in AJAX requests.
- Live Import. Performance and bug fixes.
- Vi Keybindings. New bindings and features have been added to the Vi
Keybinding support.
- URI Mapping. More work has been done on the URI mapping support. For
example, mapping is now supported in Drag/Drop of URI's onto Komodo.
This can be useful if using tools like OpenGrok to search code bases.
- Code Intel. The backend for code intel has been updated as we work
towards supporting more languages and new features.
- XDebug updated
- Various other fixes
New in previous Komodo 4.0 alpha releases:
- HTTP Inspector
- JavaScript Interactive Shell
- Live Projects
- SFTP/SCP remote file support
- Vi key bindings
- SCC History
- JavaScript debugging in Firefox
Licensing:
- Komodo 4.0 Alpha 5 has a built-in license that will expire in one
month. We'll have a new build for you to play with before then.
- This build can be installed alongside Komodo 3.x installations.
We are keen to get feedback on all of the above, and any other issues
you run into.
Regards,
Shane Caraveo
