Hi Paul,

This blinking behavior is the default behavior. You can customize the 
style of the cursor (line, block, invisible) in the Komodo "Editor" 
preferences, but there is no UI to customize the cursor blink rate. You 
can customize the blink rate using a special Komodo macro (see the below 
link):
http://community.activestate.com/forum-topic/blinking-cursor

Note: The Vi emulation ignores the cursor style settings and use 
line/block settings depending upon the Vi mode.
