This just happened again after Komodo had been running for a while. This 
time the tabs for all three files still had green checkmarks, but when I 
opened another file from the same repository, its tab didn't display a 
VCS status icon.

Yet after I restarted Komodo, the status icon for the fourth file showed 
up. And when I opened a fifth file from the same repository, its tab had 
a VCS status icon too.

So there definitely seems to be a connection between the onset of the 
increased memory usage and a lack of VCS status in tabs.
