Looks like you put a lot of thought into this.  Just some quick comments
from my personal experiences:

I use Pro, so I may be noting actual product differences...

I use dual-monitors every day without issue.  Win XP SP2, IBM Thinkpad,
Komodo on the laptop screen, Outlook on the external LCD.

It's there... Just VERY faint.  Maybe a Pro only feature?

Personally, I see the Komodo projects more as workspaces without VS style
projects.
