Komodo by ActiveState Wins "Best Development Tool" at LinuxWorld
VANCOUVER, BC - August 6 - At the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo this
week, ActiveState(tm) was honored with a Product Excellence Award for
Komodo, the company's professional integrated development environment
(IDE) for open source languages.
Named "Best Development Tool" by IDG World Expo, in conjunction with the
UniForum Association, Komodo provides a powerful workspace for editing,
debugging, and testing applications on Perl, PHP, Python, Tcl, XSLT, and
numerous other languages.
The Product Excellence Awards recognize major areas of innovation in the
Linux and open source community. Komodo was selected over products from
finalists including Sun Microsystems, Zend Technologies, BUGOPOLIS, and
Trolltech. PureMessage(tm), the company's anti-spam and content
filtering solution, was also recognized with the "Best Sys Admin Tool"
award.
"The Komodo development team works hard to ensure that Komodo runs as
well on Linux as it does on Windows, and it's gratifying to see Linux
users value our efforts," said David Ascher, Komodo Technical Lead,
ActiveState. "Long-time Linux users are among our most valuable
customers, because they realize the impact they can have on product
evolution. At the same time, some of our most avid customers are
ex-Windows users in search of an intuitive development environment on
Linux, or cross-platform users who appreciate that Komodo looks and
feels the same on all platforms. Komodo will continue to evolve to meet
the individual development needs of these groups."
Komodo's key features include an advanced, language-aware editor with
features such as background syntax-checking and auto-completion; an
easy-to-use, yet powerful debugger; Source code control; CGI emulation;
and templates. The program runs on Linux and Microsoft Windows. More
