[News-announce] ActiveState Announces Komodo IDE | [News-announce] ActiveState Previews Komodo 4.0 at O'Reilly Open Source Convention
ActiveState introduces multi-language IDE for end-to-end dynamic web
development
Komodo 4.0 showcased at Zend/PHP Conference & Expo

San Jose, CA, 2006/10/27 -- ActiveState Software Inc., the leading provider
of tools and services for dynamic languages, today announced the first beta
of Komodo 4.0, introducing advanced support for Web 2.0 technologies to the
award-winning IDE for dynamic languages. The release is available now.

Komodo 4.0 is the first IDE built specifically for end-to-end development of
dynamic web applications. A rich feature set for client-side languages,
coupled with powerful support for Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby and Tcl, enables
developers to quickly and easily create robust web apps.

With this release, Komodo's advanced dynamic language support is extended to
client-side AJAX languages, including JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and XML. The
result is a unified environment for framework stacks like Ruby on Rails and
CakePHP, and client libraries such as the Yahoo! UI Library and Dojo,
supported by new tools including DOM Viewer, HTTP Inspector, UDL (User
Defined Language) templates, secure remote file support, revamped project
support, and even greater extensibility.

By supporting the full technology stack, Komodo makes it possible to edit,
test, and debug entire web applications-server, client, and the HTTP
conversation that connects them-within a single integrated development
environment.

"Komodo 4.0 is the Swiss army knife of scripting languages and web
development," says Issac Goldstand, Mirimar Networks. "With the addition of
integrated JavaScript debugging, HTML/XML/CSS auto-completion, an integrated
HTTP protocol inspector, an integrated DOM inspector, and a handful of other
nifty tools, it's quite possibly the coolest thing to happen to scripting
languages since, well, ever."

Komodo 4.0 is planned for release in early 2007. The beta release is
showcased at this week's Zend/PHP Conference and Expo, October 30 to
November 2, in San Jose, CA.
