*Open Web Gains New Open Source Development Tools*
ActiveState Releases Open Komodo and Initiates Komodo Snapdragon Project

*Vancouver, BC, October 31, 2007*â??ActiveState Software Inc., a leading 
provider of professional development tools, released Open Komodo, an 
open source platform for building development environments based on the 
award-winning Komodo® IDE, a multi-platform, multi-language IDE for 
dynamic languages and Ajax technologies. Starting today, developers can 
download and use Open Komodo, the open-sourced code base from Komodo® 
Edit, a free multi-language editor for dynamic languages based on Komodo 
IDE.

Open Komodo is built using web-based technologies and is focused on 
development using dynamic languages, which are a vital part of the 
Internet infrastructure. Open Komodo is an environment that developers 
can shape using the technologies they use daily.

The Open Komodo website details how developers can begin using Open 
Komodo and get involved with the project, from helping create community, 
to improving the source code, to building new web development tools 
using Open Komodo.

Inspired by the open web movement and the need for developer tools in 
the open web technology stack, ActiveState is initiating a project on 
the Open Komodo platform, codenamed Komodo Snapdragon. Komodo Snapdragon 
aims to be a full-featured open-source web development tool, built in 
collaboration with the open source community, and integrated with 
Firefox®, Mozillaâ??s free, open source web browser.

Mark Finkle, Platform Evangelist at Mozilla Corporation, had this to say

source code to the Mozilla platform for development tools. This is an
