Well, I am pretty sure that, when licenses are incompatible, it is not
legal to make use of a library in your project, even unmodified.

Maybe you heard of the troubles some GPL'd packages face when using
the (incompatible) OpenSSL library. Distributions usually have to
recompile such apps using GnuTLS, when possible.

For the Arch VCS, for example, HTTPS support was disabled until
recently, when 'neon' (the WebDAV library) offered to use GnuTLS as an
alternative to OpenSSL.

In any case, using the modified BSD license would clarify the
situation :)
