As far as I know there shouldn't be a problem to have two versions of perl
in the same system, as long as they reside in different directories. Can you
give a little more details on your problem?

Hi!
I've been trying to install ActiveState's perl 5.8 rpm
ActivePerl-5.8.0.805-i686-linux.rpm
with minimum disturbance on Red Hat 9 own installed perl.
i've tried --prefix /usr i think (not sure) there is no problem
homing ActiveState perl bin at /usr/bin and overwriting Red Hat 9's
perl, but lib structures differ.
Any idea? i wouldn't like TWO different perls in the system.
Regards,
Rodrigo
