Did you try changing the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in your general profile pointing to
the new installed perl libraries?

In fact, i've already installed ActiveState's perl 5.8 in other 
directory and both perls (AS and RH) work Ok. The problem is module 
maintenance. Each perl has its own set of @INC :-(

Maybe would be better to refrase? Is there some way to modify the 
implicit @INC? i wouldn't like to add 'use lib ...' all the time !
