w2k corrective action for service
What platform are you using? There are problems with the current installer on Windows Vista
and Longhorn server, but on Windows XP64 it should be working fine.
Please let me know if you are having problems on XP64!
There is also a ZIP file installer that you could try instead of the MSI:

57965.zip> http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePerl/Beta/5.8/ActivePerl-5.8.8.817-MSWin32

RE: x64 Registry
Did you try the 64 bit ActivePerl beta build for Windows?
http://www.activestate.com/Products/Download/Download.plex?id=ActivePerl <http://www.actives
tate.com/Products/Download/Download.plex?id=ActivePerl&type=beta> &type=beta
It is listed as â??ActivePerl 5.8.8.817 Betaâ?? on that page. The MSI installer itself is st
ill 32 bit, so some of the registration it does isnâ??t quite correct, but all the modules i
ncluded should be full 64 bits. That version should not be subjected to file system or regis
try redirection.
If this doesnâ??t work, then please let us know. Otherwise it wonâ??t be fixed for the relea
seâ?¦
Cheers,
-Jan

I've been reading the thread titled "Perl Script on x64 Windows" regarding running a Perl sc
ript on an x64 system to read the registry, but the script being redirected to the 32bit sid
e. I tried several of the code snippets from the thread without any of them working successf
ully. Was wondering if anyone came up with a working solution to read the x64 registry? Than
ks.
$remkey = $Registry-> {"//$server/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVer
sion/Hotfix/"};
