POE in PPM4 repository for Perl 5.10 | Re: POE in PPM4 repository for Perl 5.10
Every new version uploaded to CPAN will automatically be compiled and tested by the PPM buil
d machines. You can see that the latest
versions of POE all fail to run their tests on Windows without errors:

http://ppm4.activestate.com/idx/PO.html

There is a single test failure:

# Failed test 'timeout for connection'

# at C:\cpanfly\var\megalib\POE\Test\Loops/connect_errors.pm line 61.

t/30_loops/select/connect_errors.t ................

1..3

ok 1 - found unused port: 3001

not ok 2 - timeout for connection

ok 3 - run() returned successfully

Failed 1/3 subtests

I've tried to build the latest version of POE manually (ActivePerl 5.10.1.1006, VC6, Win2K),
and got the same test failure.

Please contact the module authors about the problem. If they upload a fixed version to CPAN
then it should automatically appear on
the PPM servers within a few days.

Cheers,

-Jan

PS: The "best" contact point for this kind of problem is probably to file a bug at http://bu
gs.activestate.com in the ActivePerl
category with the component set to ppm_server or ppm_modules. As a second choice emailing to
the PPM mailing list is probably better
than the general-purpose perl-win32-users or activeperl mailing lists.

Subject: POE in PPM4 repository for Perl 5.10

Hi,

It looks like POE has not been updated for a while in the ActiveState PPM4 repository at
http://ppm4.activestate.com/MSWin32-x86/5.10/1003/
The latest version in the repository is 1.006 (May 2009) while the latest available on CPAN
is 1.280 (October).
See "ppm search POE"

I'm also using POE-Wheel-Run-Win32. The latest version in the PPM4 repository has been recen
tly upgraded and is now 0.18. It is now
dependent on POE 1.280 which is not available, so I can not install it, neither be able to u
se the previous version.
See "ppm search POE-Wheel-Run-Win32"

Can someone fix this inconsistency by upgrading POE ?

What is the contact point to report such issues ?

Olivier.
