RE: Can't install XML::LibXML even though I have libxml2-2.4.9 | Stopping the same questions!!
Grant, thanks. I don't think anyone will desparately want this job, so if
you volunteer, you got it:-) Let me just fill you in one what we were
discussing for a while now.

The problem with keeping stuff on sourceforge is that we can't install any
facilities on their server that we want. All they have is an XML::Parser:-(

Everything we'll be kept in sourceforge's CVS, and will be mirrored to
www.xmlproj.com which is now hosted by AxKit. We wanted to utilize the full
benefits of AxKit for this project, and this was the only way. Everything
will be written in SDocBook, and we already have a stylesheet that we are
going to utilize. So if you are beginning to write the FAQ, DocBook's the
way:-) If you are not familiar with DocBook, just write it as you can and
pass it on to me. I'll then convert it to that format. If you need I can
send you a sample of the DocBook skeleton and you can just use that as a
template.

So the answer is Yes, we are keeping everything on Sourceforge, but only in
CVS. Everything will be there, content, stylesheets, etc... If something
was to ever happen to one site, it will be easily mirrored to another:-)

Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions/disagreements.

Thanks.

Ilya

Subject: Perl/XML FAQ (WAS: Stopping the same questions!!)

Hi All

I would like to formally volunteer for the role of FAQ
maintainer (unless someone else desperately wants the job).

My thoughts so far:
- FAQ should be maintained in XML format
- Master XML document should live on Sourceforge so that
it can live on in the event of the proverbial bus strike
- More 'accessible' HTML version should exist on a web site

I have started to work out a framework of what should be in
the FAQ but it hasn't even got to the 'release early' point
yet.

I'd welcome contributions including:
- ideas on areas that need to be covered
- specific questions that need to be answered
- answers to some of those questions
- links to useful resources

In response to Daniel's original message, I'd like to agree
that this is a remarkably civilised mailing list and observe
that we've managed to get by with an out-of-date FAQ for
quite some time precisely because of the great bunch of folks
who take part. In the event that I deliver an updated FAQ I
hope we can continue without descending into RTFM (RTFFAQ?)
jibes.

Regards
Grant
