Hosting Perl's git

Re: Git for perforce users | Re: Hosting Perl's git
The git TODO thread has gone out of control. We need to focus on what we need
RIGHT FUCKING NOW, and not what we'd like to have.

The git change does not have to happen all at once.

The first step towards git is as simple as git-daemon hosting of Sam Vilain's
perl.git on git://git.perl.org, allowing people to start using git, without
disabling perforce yet.

This will allow people to start syncing at least.

The second step is migrating the commiters from perforce to git. That is what
the thread *should* have been focusing on. This means smoke tests working, and
the same people having write access.

Lastly there is what we'd like to have. Do we *need* a git to mercurial or
subversion mirror? Do we *need* gitweb right now? Remember that git is a
distributed system, anyone can host their own git to svn mirror and share it
with others retaining full history.
