I have had substantial trouble uploading and processing images via PerlEx.  If I recall corr
ectly, the problem was with the upload, and I think not with the processing...but it's been 
a while and I'm not sure.  Seems like I do recall some trouble processing images as well.  I
 never did fix the problem, and others said they were doing the same types of things as I wa
s with no trouble.  

I worked around it by having all my .aspl or cgi-plex pages link to a cgi-bin/*.pl script (r
unning straight CGI, not PerlEx) that did the image processing and then redirected back to a
 PerlEx page for more UI stuff.  That worked well for me.

Give it a try, and please post your results.
