EXIF Standard covers some special TIFF Tags and the integration of a TIFF
header into APP13 section of a JPEG image.

Yes TIFF headers could be written by any kind of image processing software.
And Yes, Exif can read any kind of meta data stored in either JPEG or TIFF.
But EXIF is a standard created by digital camera companys to simplify post
processing of images created by digital cameras...e.g. making printouts from
digital cameras as best as can!

 From exif.org
EXIF.org is a site dedicated to EXIF and related resources. EXIF stands for=
=20
Exchangeable Image File Format, and is a standard for storing interchange=20
information in image files, especially those using JPEG compression. Most=20
digital cameras now use the EXIF format. The format is part of the DCF=20
standard created by JEIDA to encourage interoperability between imaging=20
devices.

What worth is a discussion on cvs list?
