Well hey, it seemed the logical thing to do at the time!

I have to admit I didn't really look into its impact on existing code, 
though. I think I'd a hazy idea of it not hurting much.

How much _is_ it hurting? (As in number of functions/objects impacted I 
mean?)

I said that I was considering doing this back in March and asked for
feedback. I only heard back from Steph who said, "Go ahead", so I
assumed that everyone was fine with it.
