[PHP-GTK] Overlay transparent widget?

Re: [PHP-GTK] Memory allocation - debug? | Re: [PHP-GTK] Overlay transparent widget?
I was thinking about making a *n*x application that would play DVD-menus
and run MPlayer for the actual movie. I'd also like to use MPlayer for the
menus.

How I thought I'd do it: load MPlayer to play the menu movie, in a window,
and overlay a transparent widget which would catch mouse clicks.

Can this be done?
