For whatever reason, Mac OS X gives you a very short amount of time  
after process startup (or maybe linking to ApplicationServices)  
before making a window server connection.  AFAIK, if you don't make  
one soon, you can't ever make one with public API (and I'm not sure  
what the private API is).
