Yeah, that would be something I'd like to avoid.  One of the nice things
about extensions is that they're lightweight.  (~150kb for FireFTP)

In any case, I wasn't planning on working on the script, just writing up

I think I'll be fine for now.  I'll let you know in the future if I come
