I've left it pretty fat in my builds so far, using ".pyc" files instead

If I recall, Mark's approach was to  use the python.dll as created by py2exe
or the python.so on linux. (I only did linux and win32 builds)

Sure..  I based it on the outdated document at
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standalone_PyXPCOM
but kept notes so that I can retrace my steps..  Shall we start a new thread
or take this offline?
