[Tcl-announce] Dr. Dobb's Tcl-URL! - weekly Tcl news and links (Aug 9) | [Tcl-announce] ActiveState releases ActiveTcl 8.4.7.0
QOTW: "Tcl sockets are sooooo friendly" -- Cameron Laird

"never read from a nonblocking socket in a busy loop, use the Tcl
event loop instead."
      -- Reinhard Max

POTW: WebDAV-support for TclHttpd (0.1) by Stefan Vogel.
"With these scripts (which are simply placed in the custom-directory of
the TclHttpd-distribution) you have a small (and alpha) WebDAV-server.
Simply map a network-drive inside the Windows Explorer (or use your
favorite WebDAV-client) and ... have a look.

This software is meant to be extensible. Currently there are two
modules.
One (webdav_file) provides access to parts of you docroot. The other
(webdav_vfs) provides access to zip-, tar- or starkit-files (you can
browse
inside a starkit with your WebDAV-client!)."

Preventing users of your package from overloading its
procedures is not necessarily easy; many "solutions" just
push access one level farther away:

Piping data though an external process can be hampered if
     the process buffers its output:

Reading a character at a time from stdin using only Tcl (no Tk):

Richard Suchenwirth shares more of his must-be-seen-to-
     be-believed "weekend projects", among which a few-line
re-modeling of the whole WIMP paradigm stands out:
