I like the -encoding <encoding> , but not -e:<encoding>. I see no
reason for the latter, whereas the former uses the standard command
line option style and is more comprehensible in any use.
I agree with DGP that last warnings should always be called before a
vote - we could easily have fixed that one point prior to vote (and
yes ... I should have noted it when first proposed, but I knew of it
preproposal as just -encoding, so someone snuck in -e:... later).
BTW, I don't like just -e either. Perl uses that for "execute". If
someone wants to truncate it as -e or -enc then they can, but I don't
think is should be an condoned style.
