I have followed this debate and its predecessors from the
sideline. (I have some strong feelings vis-a-vis object-oriented
programming, not as a programming paradigm perse but as
the panacaea some people like to promote it as).
Most of the time I had no way of comparing the arguments
pro or con some form of OO with experience I have myself
or knowledge I have gathered over the years from reading
about it. I am an utter layman in this respect.
I think I understand it is important to have an OO framework
or facility or whatever you want to call it in the core.
I also understand having TclOO in the core does not prevent
any of the other popular OO extensions to work.
In short: please go ahead with the work - we have seen
enough arguments now!
Regards,
Arjen, who knows zilch about filters and mixins and class
destruction and what not, so is perhaps not the most
suitable person to step in and join Mark and Kevin in
the chorus but still does!
