I'll just mention two things: "Amdahl's law" and "the nanosecond rule".
If it takes a user looking at an errorstack traceback even
_three seconds longer_ to decipher the encoded form than
it would have to understand the natural form, the amortized
savings over a _million program errors_ have just been spent.
