...great to hear that this is finally coming together!  I've been  
waiting on this before continuing with the coregraphics stuff, and  
now will be able to get started on this later in the week...

...to recap where it was left (IIRC), I'd submitted changes to most  
of tkMacOSXdraw.c, but there was a problem with upside-down font  
rendering when using the coregraphics versions of XCopy*()...I think  
the next step was to go ahead and remove offscreen gworld usage so  
that we aren't flipping quartz context coords all the time, and then  
see where that leaves us (hopefully with right-side-up text)...
