If you don't need 64-bit facilities then Carbon is not disappearing  
in the immediate future. It will be years before it goes completely,  
if ever. However, it is true, and has been from the start, that Apple  
would like people to go with Cocoa, so I doubt Carbon will see too  
much attention in the future.
