I've had the same problem, I've never been able to get the 3.x combo package to 
work. Either an immediate application crash or the above error always stopped 
me.<p> 
You might need msvcrt71.dll. It comes with VS.NET, That was suggested to me, 
although it <br> 
didn't seem to fix anything.<p> 
It took some doing, but I ended up statically linking all the required 
libraries using the 2.6 version. I used VS.Net &amp; can build all packages 
(dom::libxml2 dom::c) on win/linux/solaris. On the 2.6 branch,  dom::c is more 
memory efficient (smaller leaks) of the 2 parsers IMHO. </font> </body>
