Yes, but do also feel free to add to the bugs link I mentioned before. It
allows for much better tracking. You have several good points, but we won't
be able to address them all immediately (given the time of year), and we don't

This is indeed an oddity of the original Tk on Mac developers that they
hard-coded in the fact that disabled text widgets (which have no "readonly"
state) do not show their selection. I actually hacked in a work-around at the
Tcl level to change this: 'set ::tk::AlwaysShowSelection 1'. It has to be
added to one's code though to enable that feature on Aqua (and Windows too,
IIRC - it's already the default behavior on x11).
