Re: [Visual-XSLT-discuss] VisualXSLT generates unicode when debugging | [Visual-XSLT-discuss] VS.NET XML toolbar options modified?
Hello, Christian, Mike, and anyone else interested in this subject.

I opened bug #19393 (viewable at
http://bugs.activestate.com/show_bug.cgi?id=19393
), but found this was easy to solve for running outside
the debugger, but more difficult inside the debugger.

I've reopened the bug, since this obviously needs to be
fixed for debugging as well.

Visual XSLT *does* use the .NET XML classes, but also
supports Xalan.

The reason for this bug is that non-debug output is bound to a
byte-oriented stream, so you get the correctly encoded output.
But debugger output is bound to a character-oriented stream, and we'll
need to actually pre-process the XSLT file to determine what encoding
the character stream should use. The default is UCS-2, which is why
you're getting the output you've observed.
