Does anybody know when Visual Perl will be out?

Hello all,

I really need to have a Perl IDE for Windows, which is why I am very
interested in the announcement about Visual Perl. But I have no idea
when this product is supposed to be available.

In the meantime, I need to use something. I am currently using TextPad
for the coding part, but I still need to be able to run the code on my
Windows PC. I have downloaded several of the trial versions for
different Perl IDE's, but since most of them are oriented towards CGI or
other scripts, and I just do plain simple Perl programming (mostly
reading and manipulation of text files), the majority of the existing
IDE's generally don't work for me. The only one that did work the way I
needed it to was PerlBuilder, but that evaluation period is now over,
and I can't afford to buy the product.

I'm hoping that, following the current model of Microsoft Academic
Software, Visual Perl will be more affordable once released.

But in the meantime, I still need some way to see the output of my
programs. Sure, I can run them, but the DOS window closes immediately
after completion, and there doesn't seem to be anything similar to the
"| more" command that I use on the Unix system on campus. I suppose I
might be able to do this if I was running from a DOS command line, but
I'm not.

Any news on the release of Visual Perl, or any suggestions otherwise?
