ActiveState releases Visual Python 1.2.1
ActiveState will release a new version of Visual Python to coincide with
Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 (7.1). Based on your feedback, we've added
several new features and updates, including:
- Interactive Window: Try out your Python code and get immediate feedback.
Once it's correct, paste it into your program.
- Remote Debugging: Debug CGI and server apps written in Python, even on
other machines.
- Broad Python version support: Now works with versions 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3.
Visual Python will work with both ActivePython and other installations
(win32com extensions are required for other installations).
- Updated Help: Complete language reference is included.
- Extended Intellisense: Statement completion now knows about built-in
functions.
Note: the upgrade to the new Visual Python will be free to everyone that has
purchased a previous version.
Prior to release we are considering a Beta test, during which we will invite
users of Visual Python, who have Visual Studio .NET 2003 available, to test
drive the new Visual Python. We will be looking for feedback on features,
bug reports, and general comments.
If you are interested in testing Visual Python, please contact me directly
at MattH@[...].com.
Thanks,
Matt Herdon
