syntax?

By a validation DTD I mean a special case of an architectural DTD,
one which automatches all elements and attributes, provides no other
architectural processing, and does not provide useful information about
parsed general entities. An external validator is a program which accepts
a well-formed (possibly valid) XML document, a validation DTD, and a
root element type, and answers "Valid" or "Invalid". SP can function
as an external validator, and so can Sun MSV. We are here considering
extensions to DTD syntax when used in validation DTDs.
By a native DTD I mean simply the declarations directly or indirectly
contained within a DOCTYPE declaration in a well-formed XML document.
The syntax of native DTDs is controlled by the XML 1.0 Recommendation
solely, and I am not suggesting that any changes be made to them.

I have absolutely no control over dsdl.org, except to post stuff to the
comments list as I am doing.
