It might be compression of the effect but not of the schemas themselves.

By itself a Hook schema cannot be generated from an XML Schema because we
don't know what the root (of a branch-of-a-single-namespace) is, so some
extra information is required.

And, on a related topic, congratulations to James Clark on the new release
of TREX.
